I`ve started to take pictures of my fungi plate on September 17 and first exposed it on my desk for about an hour. The room temperature was normal, about 20 Celsius. No AC or other resources that could change the room temperature. At first I thought we had to expose it with the lid open, so I did that for few days, but nothing really caused it to be damaged or anything like that. My bacteria or fungi started to grow after one week I received it. My type is MM. Conclusion In this lab, I exposed my petri dish on my desk about an hour everyday and the temperature was also about the same on each day. In the beginning, I thought it would constantly grow and show a graph of logistic grow. In the first week, it grew rapidly and about 20 bacteria appeared on the petri dish. And when it was second week, there was about 50-60 bacteria growing up. However, on third and fourth weeks, they started to compete each other for more nutrients and the number of bacteria started to decrease slowly and slowly. So, my hypothesis is that there will be more and more competition, as the nutrients decrease in the petri dish. What I`ve Learned Throughout this lab, I`ve learned that my bacteria compete each other for the spacing and nutrients and that was the reason why the bacteria was keep reducing. Now, there are only big ones remained in the petri dish and each of them is separated far apart from each other. I think that nutrient was the cause for them to compete each other. |
